Happy Christmas!

Its only a week to Christmas and for my final Monday make I was going to do a lovely quilted table runner like this one

finished table runner with backing, Hugs & Kisses quilt tutorial, Leah Douglas, buggspotIt is made using the Simply colour fabric range by Moda that is available from Trixie Lixie

Unfortunately I am not feeling very well so I haven’t even touched my sewing machine for 2 days! However you can find some excellent instructions here at the Moda Bake Shop

If I feel better soon I will try and make one as I think it will look great on my Christmas table. In the meantime I want to wish all my lovely followers a Happy Christmas, I have manged to make a card today at the very least!

Friends & collaborations

A couple of weeks ago I sent a little parcel to a blogging friend of mine in Belgium called Sister Sew, here is her lovely blog: Sister sew

Here’s what I sent

to blog 148I am not going to show you what is inside the parcel as she is going to make something gorgeous and blog about it, all I will say is that  the goodies were from Trixie Lixie

I am quite excited about it and can’t wait to see what she makes!

Fabric covered notebooks

Well Christmas is almost here and I wanted a nice easy Monday make as I have lots of other handmade Christmas presents on the go, Chilli jam, pyjama’s, more knickers etc. So there is no sewing involved with today’s make, only sticking. All the fabric is available at Trixie Lixie it’s from the Oh Deer! range by Moda. And the trimming is from our Bias binding selection.

You will also need some double sided sticky tape.

First of all I drew around the book and then added a 3cm border before cutting out the fabric.

to blog 229 to blog 228Next I put double sided sticky tape around the outside edge’s of the notebook

to blog 231With the notebook closed stick the fabric to the front of the book, at each side of the spine, top and bottom, snip the fabric then stick the fabric to the back of the book

to blog 220Open the book and put double sided sticky tape on the inside cover, mitre the edges by cutting the corner’s off then fold fabric inside the book and secure.

to blog 235 to blog 234 to blog 233Do the same to the back and then snip off the excess fabric at the top and bottom of the spine. I decorated mine by adding a strip of bias binding using the double sided tape, I also added a little envelope to the front of the small one for keeping things in.

The winner will be chosen by random on 22nd December.

Christmas decorations

to blog 199We put our Christmas tree up yesterday so I thought I would make some new decorations to go on it. I have taken inspiration from one of my favourite bloggers Pillows a-la mode who has made a huge collection of mini pillow Xmas decorations. Also I just had a delivery of a new fabric range from Moda called simply colour and these 4 new fabrics look nice and Christmassy.

These are so simple, I just cut 2 10cm squares from each of my fabrics, I then attached some pom-pom trim to the right sides of one of the squares.

Next I attached the other square, right sides together being careful to make sure that all the pom-pom trim is facing inwards, only sew up 3 of the sides as you will need 1 open to turn it the right way and stuff it.

to blog 205Once it is stuffed I pinned some Christmas Ribbon to the top and stitched the top closed
