Thurlow shorts and W.I.P

This week we had some lovely Amy Butler babycord fabric delivered, it is velvety soft and as soon as I saw it I knew I needed to make something straight away!

The weather has been so lovely for the past couple of weeks and I had been promising myself a pair of Thurlow shorts so this seemed the ideal opportunity to make some!

Soul Blossom Thurlow shortsI found the LLadybird Thurlow sew-along a great help for making these, particularly for the pockets and zipper, I used one of our gorgeous everyday cotton spotty fabrics for the pocket and waistband lining and one of the button’s from The Button Museum in Ross-on Wye that a friend recently gave to me.

cordshortsI love all three of these corduroys so I am thinking of making a couple of skirts next! A Colette Ginger perhaps? Or if I can wait a week we are getting the Tilly and the Buttons patterns in and I could make a Miette Skirt! Watch this space!

My other W.I.P is a gorgeous Chickadee cardigan from Little Red in the City, its knitted in one piece which means you can try it on for size as you are going along, I have got quite a lot of it done but unfortunately I am now suffering from tennis elbow and knitting is just too painful so I have had to put it aside for about a month while my arm recovers!

Has anyone else had to stop sewing or knitting due to injury? Mr LLM is saying that I have knitters elbow as I have not been near a tennis racket for years! The nearest I am getting to Tennis at the moment is watching Wimbledon!Chickadee cardigan WIPThe wool I am using is from the National Museum of Wales, Woollen Museum, I love the vintage style colours that they have used to dye this beautiful yarn. Perhaps I will get it finished in time for the Autumn and cooler weather.

My Lovely Mum!

This week I made a Colette Moneta dress for my Lovely Mum, so it’s her turn to be the glamour model!

My Mum in her Colette Moneta DressI used some of our gorgeous jersey fabric which is soft and silky to the touch and drapes beautifully.

moneta-hero-smallColette Patterns are currently doing a Moneta dress sewalong so you can learn how to make this lovely easy to wear and easy to make dress.

I made myself one when the pattern first came out and it made it’s debut during Me Made May, if you missed it, here it is again:

#1 Project Per Week

This weeks project is a birthday present for one of my best friends whose birthday was yesterday. Its a Sewaholic Gabriola Skirt.

Gabriola SkirtThe fabric is a beatiful Blackberry blossom print cotton lawn that is from our website so it drapes beautifully.

Sew-alongs and #1ppw

This week I decided to take part in not just one sewalong, but two! I joined in with the Sewaholic Belcarra Blouse sew-along and the Colette Mabel Skirt sew-along.

1402_Sewaholic_Belcarra_Envelope_frontmabel-300I have already made a couple of Belcarra blouses and I wanted to make this one a bit different so I used some of the fabulous new lace fabric that we have in stock to make some lacey sleeves on this black cotton lawn version.

tracymabelbelcarraThe Mabel skirt I made is the longer pencil skirt version and I used light weight cotton jersey knit in glamourous red. Both patterns are really easy to make and it only took me a couple of days to put together this gorgeous outfit!

I have also signed up for the 1 project per week sewing challenge that fellow blogger bernieandi has organised so this outfit is my week 1 for that too, ticks lots of boxes!
