Christmas is coming!

I can’t believe that Christmas is almost upon us already (we had our first Christmas card this morning)! So I thought I would share a few gift ideas with you that are available from www.trixielixie.co.uk. Gifts that you could make or just give as kits (or add to your own list for Santa)

We have some gorgeous fat quarter packs in a huge range of fabrics, colour coordinated and ready for you to make into quilts etc. We also have some fab Christmas fabrics which are great for making stockings, pyjamas and decorations.

We also have a selection of jelly rolls, charm packs, sewing accessories and buttons, some of which we have put together in pretty tins and bags so that they can be given as gifts.

And we also have a great selection of sewing kits that you can use to make gifts for your friends and family, why not try making a gorgeous pair of knickers, a scarf or a purse. If you don’t have time to make up the kit yourself you can just give the kit as the gift.

I hope this will give everybody a bit of inspiration for Christmas, I love to give handmade gifts and if I can’t make them all myself I do like to buy handmade whenever I can.

Dahlia Dress

My wrist is still painful and I am having to wear a splint and see a hand therapist, apparently scaphoid injuries take a long time to heal! Anyway I can sew as long as I don’t spend hours at it and rest my hand every couple of hours, which is frustrating but I think my sewing is benefiting from the slower, less rushed approach. So I started this Dahlia dress as soon as we received the patterns from Colette, but I didn’t get it finished until a week later.Colette Dahlia dressThe pattern is easy to follow, clear instructions as always and some useful blog links for the harder bits such as gathering and attaching bias binding. I used some of our gorgeous China blue Linen fabric that feels gorgeous and has a really nice drape to it. I can see myself using this pattern again and again although I think I will make a smaller size next time as the fit is quite generous.

tracy-dahliaIn the colder weather I like to accessorize with tights and boots, here is one of my #sewingselfies

#sewingselfie Dahlia dressWe sold out of this pattern straight away so I imagine there are going to be a lot of gorgeous Dahlia’s to look at in the next week or so, I can’t wait to see some!

Happy Sewing!
