Oakridge blouse.

When we had the Regent Street lawn fabric delivery I knew that I wanted to make a nice blouse with it, how excited was I when Sewaholic released their new blouse patterns! I could not wait to make the Oakridge blouse, unfortunately due to my wrist injury from the summer I can’t sew for long so each project takes me more time to make, however I don’t think this is a bad thing as I don’t make so many mistakes and the end product is better finished.

I like the slightly fitted style of this blouse, I decided not to put the bow on the blouse as I thought it would be too fussy but I want to make another one with a bow now! It is a very straight forward pattern to follow, I have made shirts before and found the instructions confusing however this pattern is really easy to follow.

I thought it was going to be a bit too long but as you can see it is the perfect length, I may slightly shorten the sleeve on my next one but that is only because I have short arms!

I used some of our vintage style Celtic buttons to finish it off.

I even had enough fabric left over to make some matching knickers! This fabric is fabulous for knickers, it’s a lovely delicate lawn so they are really soft and comfortable!

Happy sewing everyone!

Comox trunks/pyjama’s

Here are a couple of my “Man Makes” from 2014 for Mr TL. My first attempt at the Thread Theory Comox trunks was a bit confusing, I used the sew along that is on their blog and yet I still made a couple of mistakes. My second pair were so much easier! I think it was because I used a patterned Jersey fabric that had a clear right side and wrong side so it all fell into place without a hitch!

So after successfully completing the second pair ( jungle January flavour zebra print!) I decided to do some pyjama bottoms for Mr TL using the Comox as inspiration. They turned out quite well and Mr TL says they are extremely comfortable, however he was not prepared to be photographed in any of his new garments!!

As he wouldn’t oblige I shall have to use the photo of the Thread Theory boys in their Comox trunks instead!

I have promised to do a few more “Man Makes” this year, the next request being a Colette Negroni shirt in the new Ninja dragons fabric that we have in stock, I will keep you posted! Are you making anything for your significant other this year? Please let me know if you have any plans.

A selection of my 2014 makes

I thought I would showcase a selection of my sewing projects from 2014.
Last year I made a few dresses, my favourite pattern is the By Hand Anna dress I also made a Gather Mortmain dress, I want to combine these 2 patterns this year using the Mortmain bodice with the Anna skirt.

I made a few skirts last year as well, I fell in love with Tilly & the Buttons Miette pattern, I made 2! A gorgeous denim lawn one and a fantastically colourful baby cord one. Another Amy Butler Barcelona skirt and I made a few Colette Mabel skirts as well!

2015/01/img_0384.jpg
To go with the skirts I made a few blouse’s, my favourite pattern for 2014 was the Sewaholic Belcarra Blouse, here are 3 of them! (I made 5). And I couldn’t resist another Colette Jasmine which was one of my favourite patterns of 2013.

2015/01/img_0376.jpg
I also made lots of knickers using the Trixie Lixie Knicker pattern, nothing unusual there, I probably make about 30 pairs a year!

2015/01/img_0374.jpg
I did quite a lot of unselfish sewing last year, a Colette Moneta for my Mum, a Sewaholic Saltspring dress for my beautiful daughter, a Sewaholic Gabriola for my bestie and some cute Tutu skirts for my gorgeous little niece’s.

2015/01/img_0383.jpg
I also made a few tote bags as gifts.

2015/01/img_0375.jpg
My favourite month was Me Made May, I had a great time showing off my handmade wardrobe that month!

I have loads of projects planned for 2015! Here’s to another year of happy sewing!
