One of my New Year sewing resolutions was to make a pair of jeans, so here they are! I used the Closet case Ginger jeans pattern.

I don’t know why I was so nervous about making my own jeans! I set aside 2 days to make them and had 3 machines on the go (one for seams, one for top stitching and my over locker to finish the seams). I found the Ginger Jeans pattern really easy to follow and I knew that I could go to the Closet Case blog and find visual instructions if I got stuck, however I found the pattern instructions so clear that I didn’t need to use the blog! This is quite unusual for me as normally I need to look at  lots of photos or video’s to help me with tricky bits like fly zips etc. The denim I used is called Vixen and it has 2% spandex, its a gorgeous very dark, almost black denim and I love it!

I made a straight size 14 and it fits perfectly, when you sew up the leg side seams you can try them on and make any adjustments that you might need, I also shortened them by 2cm before I cut them out as I am a bit of a short arse.

I really can’t think why I was so nervous about making jeans, they were really easy and I am so pleased with the result! I just want to tell everyone I MADE JEANS!

If you are even contemplating making jeans, just do it! You will be surprised how easy it is and you won’t be able to stop smiling! I had to point out to my friends that I had made my jeans, they said they would never have guessed because they look shop made!
