Me made May 2019 2nd post

It’s nearly the end of June & I realised that I still haven’t posted the second half of my #memademay2019 posts! So for the record here are the rest of the months me made outfits!

Looking back on these pictures makes me realise how lucky I was with the weather for my week off in Devon!

Well what a month! I have to admit that as I wear me made every day (95% of my wardrobe is handmade) it wasn’t that hard for me to wear Me made everyday during May. I think next year I will have to set myself more of a challenge! Any suggestions? Comment below!!

#memademay2019

Me made May has been running for 10 years and I think that this year it is bigger than ever, I have taken part several times and each time I have had a bit of a theme running through my posts, you can see my previous posts on this blog. Here are my posts for 2019 so far!

I pretty much wear me- made all the time so I didn’t set myself a challenge, however I have found that with my changing body shape due to being 50+ and going through the menopause, I am struggling to get into a lot of my clothes! So I have been unpicking a pile of skirts and re-modelling them into new skirts that fit me. Keep watching my posts to see the results! If you want to find out more about Me made May and the sewing pledge take a look at https://sozowhatdoyouknow.blogspot.com/ for more details and inspiration.

Me made May catch up

It’s almost May and another Me-Made-May is fast approaching so I thought I would re-post my first ever Me-Made-May! I always have so much fun doing it and can’t wait for this May so that I can do it all again, any suggestions for my theme this year? Last year it was Where am I, there wasn’t much of a theme to the first one, it just evolved!

Me-Made-May 2014

MeMadeMay 2014 day 18Although it says day 19 on this image it was in fact only day 18, I got a bit confused! Being on a pirate ship probably didn’t help! I am wearing a Colette Ceylon Dress that I made a few years ago, #mmm2014 has really encouraged me to wear a lot of outfits that have been sitting in the back of my wardrobe!

MeMadeMay 2014 day 19So this is actually day 19 and I look as if I am having a great time on the waltzers but actually fair ground rides absolutely terrify me! I am wearing a Simple Sew A-line skirt which is exactly that – a very simple sew and the pattern for £7.50 is also a very good price, the fabric is from the Moda Honky Tonk range which I love! My Blouse is the Sewaholic Belcarra that I have mentioned in previous posts.

MeMadeMay 2014 day 20Party on! My gorgeous Mortmain dress that I am loving at the moment, I make dresses all the time and then hardly wear them so it’s great to get the opportunity to show them off at the moment and I must continue to wear them when #mmm2014 finishes!

MeMadeMay 2014 day 21On day 21 I did actually go and see Joe Brown in concert, he was GREAT and those of you who know me will realise that I am actually playing that ukulele (although not actually with Joe!) as it is something I like to do when I am not sewing! This By Hand London Anna dress has got to be my favourite make of the month, I love it!

MeMadeMay 2014 day 22This has got to be one of my favorite photo’s of the month, I didn’ know what animal it was going to be Mr LLM just said today you are going to the zoo! The dress is a self drafted jersy knit using some of the funky jersey fabric we have in stock at the moment and the leggings are Cake Espresso’s.

MeMadeMay 2014 day 23I am really enjoying sewing with knit fabrics at the moment, I treated myself to a copy of the new Colette book ‘Sewing with knits’ and it has given me the confidence to try lots of knit patterns, including this Colette Moneta dress, if you have got a serger you can make this really quickly! More lush jersey fabric!

MeMadeMay 2014 day 24It was a gorgeous day today so I am wearing shorts, these are just a pair of cut-off jeans but I really want to make some Thurlow shorts for the summer, and the top is my stripey Sewaholic Renfrew, another quick and easy jersey make.

MeMadeMay 2014 day 25pgWe went away for the week end so I appear to be camping in a tiny tent here, but actually we stayed in a caravan, it was pretty cold in the evenings though so I was really gratefull for my Sewaholic Tofino trousers and hand knitted Rowan wool bobble hat and jumper!

MeMadeMay 2014 day 26I feel like Alice in Wonderland in this shot! Rocking my A-Line skirt as mentioned earlier and yet another jersey top, this time a Cake Cabrita.

MeMadeMay 2014 day 27On day 27 I was serving pints for Manet, enormous pints! I love this gingham Belcarra blouse!

MeMadeMay 2014 day 28Somehow I ended up in the fridge today! Its a good job that I have got a hand knitted hat on to keep my head warm! I am also wearing my Black Sewaholic Thurlow trousers and a Colette Jasmine blouse, this is one of the blouse’s that is available to buy as a kit from the website.

Well thats me all up to date, only a few more days to go, it’s been great fun!

It was a beautiful day today so I wore my new drape top, the pattern for this is in The Sewing Bee book, I am also wearing my Denim skirt a must have wardrobe item! Catching some rays on Bognor beach with The Hoff!

Lassie came home! Wearing my denim skirt again with a Sewaholic Renfrew top in stripey Jersey.

Another real life famous person! It’s Stuart Hiliard of British Sewing Bee fame! Embarrassingly I am wearing my denim skirt for the third day in a row! It is just so easy to wear! My top is a Grainline Scout Tee in Moda Regent Street lawn. The pattern for my denim skirt is from the Sew Serendipity book, however the Grainline Studio Moll skirt patterns have just arrived and I know I am going to make a denim version ASAP.

I seem to have a thing about TV cops, here I am with Ponch from CHiPs does anyone else remember him? Wearing a teapot skirt, with another Sewaholic Renfrew top.

Loving Marvin’s shiny suit! Another Amy Butler Barcelonia skirt and another Sewaholic Renfrew top, these are 2 of my favourite go to patterns! Skirt fabric is from the Field study range by Anna Maria Horner for Freespirit fabrics.

Me made May, my week.

What a hectic week I have had, I love Me made May, it’s such a thrilling & exciting month!

To kick it all off I met up with Bruce Lee for a G&T wearing a panel skirt from the Sew Serendipity book made up in Gutermann French Cottage fabric and Sewaholic Renfrew top in Purple Jersey.

Well that was Monday, so on Tuesday I met up with my mates from The Clash and we really rocked the Kasbah! I was wearing another Sew Serendipity skirt, this time in Denim with another Sewaholic Renfrew in stripey Jersey.

This skirt has Surfing Kitty secret pockets!

On Wednesday I had a Jammin’ session with Jimi!

Wearing my Sewaholic Davies dress in Rose Garden Jersey.

I was really getting into the groove so I met up with Tammy for a bit of country style dressing!

This was a Colette pattern kind of day in my Gingham Jasmine blouse and Denim Beignet skirt (look at those anchor buttons!)

By Friday I wanted nothing better than to chill out with Mr Gatsby AKA Robert Redford!

Wearing my Grainline Scout Tee in some gorgeous Regent Street Lawn and a Colette Moneta skirt in Grey Jersey.

By Saturday I was ready for another game of Ping pong, this time with my mate Bob, I don’t think I am helping his game much!

It’s about time I wore an Anna! It is my favourite dress pattern, this one is made using some of the gorgeous Hemmingway fabric. So sad to hear that By Hand London are no longer going to be making paper patterns, I had better make several copies of this one!

Today I am wearing another Anna as I teach Bjorn how to play the crowd at the end of his tennis matches.

And it wouldn’t be Me made May if I didn’t show you my knickers!

you will just have to believe me when I say that I am wearing Me Made knickers every day because I am not about to start taking photos of me in them!

I hope you are all enjoying Me made May as much as I am xxx

Me made May week 2

Well that week flew by! Here is a round up of what I have been wearing during #mmmay14

#mmm14 day 10On day 10 I wore a Colette Mabel skirt, on the pattern she says you can make it in an hour, its true! I knocked this one up that morning! And the top I am wearing is the Cake Cabarita riff which was also surprisingly easy to make, the fabrics are Grey jersey heavy weight knit and a gorgeous Red Cotton jersey that is T-shirt weight. I am living a daydream and partying with one of my heart throbs – John Travolta!

#mmm14 day 11I celebrated Conchita’s win with her on day 11 in one of my Sewaolic Renfrew tops, I am also wearing a Brigitte Scarf from Tilly’s new book ‘Love at first stitch’, if you haven’t seen this book yet, take a look, I love and want to make EVERYTHING!

#mmm14 day 12I fell in love with this Riley Blake fabric as soon as it came in to stock and it is perfect as a By Hand London Anna dress, its from the new Vintage Happy range, and hey! I’m on a mountain, how did that happen?

#mmm14 day 13I was back into work clothes on day 13 so my trusty Sewaholic Thurlows and a Colette Violet blouse in ivory georgette, this is available to buy as a complete kit from the website. Doing a spot of light reading during my lunch break with my work mates!

#mmm14 day 14Day 14 and I parachuted back in wearing my Colette Mabel skirt and Gorgeous gingham Sewaholic Belcarra blouse.

#mmm14 day 15Day 15 brought glorious sunshine to Wales so I was happy to find myself in an icecream van today, I am wearing a Colette Jasmine Blouse which is made using a gorgeous black spotty crepe fabric, again this is available as a complete kit on the website.

#mmm14 day 16Day 15 was a spotty theme so I wore my glam By Hand Charlotte pencil skirt, I love this skirt as the fabric is stretchy so it is really comfortable, yet glamourous. Its a cotton mix fabric with a broderie anglaise style detail and red spots, lush! My top is the Cake Cabarita riff. And I am back ot top of the World again, only this time I have made it to the moon!!

#mmmay14 Day 17Well it’s Saturday so I get to lounge around in my Sewaholic Tofino trousers, its also cup final day so I have ended up in Wembley! The Tofino’s are very comfy and I have used some of the Moda Honky Tonk fabric to make these, I am also wearing another Belcarra blouse!

honky-tonk-chili-pepper-cowboy-fabric-1506-p[ekm]288x288[ekm]Here’s a close up of the Honky Tonk fabric as you can’t quite make it out in the photo.

Well, that was week 2, I am busy sewing a couple more new outfits for week 3 so watch this space.

My Me made May week 1

Well so far I have blogged up to day 5, so here is the rest of the week:

MeMadeMay day 6On Day 6 I had work so I am wearing my Thurlow’s again, this time I have teamed them up with a black jersey Belcarra blouse, I can’t stress enough how much I love the Sewaholic Belcarra blouse pattern, I have made 4 already! It’s sooooo quick and easy to make!

Me made May day 7And here it is again! Another Belcarra blouse, this one is very versatile as it is white so I can wear it with anything, although it is a bit see through so I am wearing a cami top underneath! (A Colette Cinnamon, only available as a download from their website). The skirt is a Sew Serendipity Six Panel skirt from the book called ‘Sew Serendipity’.

MeMadeMay day 8I thought it would be good to show the back of my Sewaholic Thurlow trousers, look at those fab pockets! Actually I made a mistake and put them on upside down and rather than unpick them I just cut them off and made ‘fake’ pockets!! The top is a Sewaholic Renfrew, I am really enjoying sewing with knits at the moment and this stripey jersey is gorgeous.

MeMadeMay day 9The theme for Friday was blue, so I wore one of my other Belcarra blouses, the gorgeous gingham one, with my Colette Beignet skirt, notice the lovely vintage style buttons on my skirt.

I am really enjoying Me made May, I think I need to make a few more outfits this weekend!
