New Morris Blazer and Moss Skirt from Grainline Patterns are here!

new-grainline

Like quite a lot of others in the sewing world, we’d been awaiting the release of Grainline Studio’s Morris Blazer on printed paper for quite a while, so when we went looking again on Grainline’s website a few weeks ago it was all systems go!

Whilst we were there, another new paper pattern took our fancy, the Moss Skirt. We’ve only had a brief look,  but we think that this could overtake the Amy Butler Barcelona Skirt as our favourite A-line[ish] skirt pattern.

So this morning, our lovely postman turned up with a huge box of patterns, which refilled our sadly depleted selection from Grainline. We are now fully stocked up with Morris Jackets, Moss Skirts, Linden Sweatshirts and Alder Shirtdresses.

Let’s go!

MeMadeMay days 2 & 3

Yesterday I wore an Amy Butler Barcelona Skirt that I made last year using some very nice Freespririt fabric called Tree of Life, I am also wearing a MeMade cardigan,a chunky moss stitch cropped cardi that I made about 2 years ago, so long ago that I can’t remember the name of the pattern or the make of the wool!

MeMadeMay day 2Today I wore the Cake Red Velvet Dress that I made a couple of months ago using some of our new cotton jersey fabrics, this Red birds on blue fabric has proved REALLY popular so if you want some grab it now as when it is gone, it is gone!

MeMadeMay day 3It would be lovely if I had spent today on a beautiful beach but, alas no, it is photo-shopped, mr LLM is having a great time with all the photos of me that he is taking, he say’s I look like Thelma from Scooby-Doo!

Barcelona Skirt

This is probably the easiest skirt I have ever made, it’s the Amy Butler Barcelona skirt, its a gorgeous A-line skirt, fully lined and a beautifully concealed zip.

Barcelona SkirtThe fabric I used is a Free Spirt fabric by Anna Maria Horner from her Field Study range, it is called Raindrops Pop Candy isn’t that a great name?

I used some Turquoise lining fabric and then I trimmed the bottom with some Teal velvet ribbon.

Happy sewing!

Charlotte Skirt Sewalong

You may remember that I said that I was going to join in with the Charlotte Skirt sewalong in conjunction with By Hand London, any way it started on 14th Jan and I was so busy I missed the first 2 sewalongs, well I have caught up with the first one and cut out my fabric

http://www.trixielixie.co.uk/charlotte-skirt-420-p.aspThe fabric I am using is a lovely winter weight soft wool blend in a herringbone pattern, it is lovely and soft and has glittery bits woven into it ( £11 a metre at Trixie Lixie)

I need to catch up on stage 2 so I will keep you posted!

Retro Skirt

I have made this retro style circle skirt to wear to The Green Man Festival at the weekend. I used ric rac around the bottom to give it a real vintage look.

And to make it even fuller I made a petticoat to go underneath, lovely sheer red cotton fabric with red lace trim.
