Thurlow shorts and W.I.P

This week we had some lovely Amy Butler babycord fabric delivered, it is velvety soft and as soon as I saw it I knew I needed to make something straight away!

The weather has been so lovely for the past couple of weeks and I had been promising myself a pair of Thurlow shorts so this seemed the ideal opportunity to make some!

Soul Blossom Thurlow shortsI found the LLadybird Thurlow sew-along a great help for making these, particularly for the pockets and zipper, I used one of our gorgeous everyday cotton spotty fabrics for the pocket and waistband lining and one of the button’s from The Button Museum in Ross-on Wye that a friend recently gave to me.

cordshortsI love all three of these corduroys so I am thinking of making a couple of skirts next! A Colette Ginger perhaps? Or if I can wait a week we are getting the Tilly and the Buttons patterns in and I could make a Miette Skirt! Watch this space!

My other W.I.P is a gorgeous Chickadee cardigan from Little Red in the City, its knitted in one piece which means you can try it on for size as you are going along, I have got quite a lot of it done but unfortunately I am now suffering from tennis elbow and knitting is just too painful so I have had to put it aside for about a month while my arm recovers!

Has anyone else had to stop sewing or knitting due to injury? Mr LLM is saying that I have knitters elbow as I have not been near a tennis racket for years! The nearest I am getting to Tennis at the moment is watching Wimbledon!Chickadee cardigan WIPThe wool I am using is from the National Museum of Wales, Woollen Museum, I love the vintage style colours that they have used to dye this beautiful yarn. Perhaps I will get it finished in time for the Autumn and cooler weather.
